H5N1- The Avian Flu - Bird Flu

Say Hello 2 the H5N1 Avian flu virus (Bird Flu).

This Virus has been around 4 awhile, but in 1997 became a deadly pandemic strain. It opened up the Hong Kong officials eyes 2 the threat of infectious diseses. They did a supreme job and cut the virus down be4 it could travel the earth.

Margret Chan- she is now the director of the WHO- world health orginization. She had every chicken in Hong Kong culled. She is the VOICE of Warning. She has verbaly said we need 2 get ready 4 Pandemic.She has been very open and informative with her reports and recomendations . Beacause of this Nations and Countries around the world are working 2gether 2 prepare 4 pandemic and 2 fight and understand other infectious disese;.Because of this scientist have renewed their fervor 2 understand this deadly virus and how it transmits so effectively. They have discovered a multituted of useful information; Because of this we all need 2 take heed 2 her warnings, and take the scientists findings very seriously.

This is just my intro 2 this multifaceted virus. There is an enormous amout of information on this subjectand I want 2 be very thorough in my presentation of this information.

Let me reiterate... I have Asbergers disorder and we aspies tend 2 collect enormous amounts of information. I find this helpful in my research. If i should be wrong I hope U readers will leave me the correct info. I aso note that I am NOT a medical practioner.This blog is just an informative blog, not medical advice. The Third Wave -

The spanish flu was winding down in America, or so it seemed. On November 21 1918 San Franciscans were allowed 2 go w/out masks- 5000 cases appeared there after.

By April 1919 it was gone 4 good.H1N1 finally had run out of hosts.

*Entire villiages were wiped out in Africa, Asia, and Central America.

*Millions of children were orphaned.

*many of those who did survive were left with brain damage. Dr. Oliver Sachs wrote "Awakenings" a book about millions who devepoped ENCEPHALITIS LETHARGICA - a devastating condition in which victims were trapped in a twighlight world of permenant sleep.

*With a terrible sad poingnancy, the spanish flu pandemic all but erased from the history books until quite recently...

When H5N1 appeared on the scene in 1996...

The second wave was the worst.
WWI created the ideal situation that gave the virus a vast new supply of hosts. Thus it mutated (like all viruses do) and the boys coming home from overseas brought this newly mutated form of the virus back home with them. Soldiers disembarked at Commonwealth Pier in Boston Harbour, with 8 cases in these returning soldiers. A week later 119 cases. Most were transferred to a Naval Hospital in Chelsa. From there the flu spread to Camp Devens.(30 miles west of Boston) By mid- September 50,000 civilians and soldiers were sick throughout Massachusetts.
Dr. William Henry Welch, one of the most eminent pathologist of his day, had been summoned. This virus was no longer the 3 day flu - it had become a relentless killer. It had a rapid onset.It was able 2 burrow so deep in the lungs, so early in the illness, that the lungs became flooded before any immune response was possible.Bodies starved for oxygen that couldn't get in the super inf lammed lungs, developed distinctive heliotrope cyenosis. Patients drown in their own blood and fluids. The progression from feeling fine to near death often took less than 24 hrs. Many suffered from epistaxis- severe nose bleeds. Some women hemorrhaged heavily from their vaginas. This virus was most lethal in pregnant women. 75% of all pregnant women at that time died from the flu.
Viruses are NOT living creatures, like bacteria, no vaccine, no antibiotic could stop them.
So on went the virus...killing many in it's deadly march across America and all other countries around the world.October 1918 was the deadliest month for Americans. October 2,1918 - 202 Bostionares died and all public meeting places were ordered shut.Procrastination of officials proved to be disastrous, especially for Philadelphia- they held their 4th annual Liberty Loan Drive parade with 200,000 people in attendance. In little over a week Philadelphia was dying. Literally!
1st week in October 2,600 dead.
October 10,1918 -759 dead.
2nd week in October 4,597 dead.
In one month October -11,000 dead.
Health Officials all over the country told people NOT TO PANIC! I find this hilarious for one, the word itself-panic derived from the word pandemic. People should and will "Panic" during a pandemic! (DUH) Second, the instant the "Government" says that word(panic), we, as a people(Americans) know something is truly amiss. Sad fact right there.
With the dead bodies piled up in the overflowing morgues, the stench and filth was said to be indescribable. Nobody went near the dead bodies. And no one came to pick up the dead bodies either. Eventually the priests and seminarians became the only ones who could stomach the pick up of so many dead bodies. Families had to dig the graves of their loved ones themselves. There were no coffins to be had, or a gravedigger to be found. Entire families were wiped out throughout all neighborhoods.
October 1918 - 200,000 dead in America.
By November 11,1918 people again flocked to the streets celebrating the end of the war.

The 1918 pandemic, called the Spanish Flu, killed up 100 million people world wide(so the "ESTIMATE" goes). At the time our world populace was 1.6 billion people. So if the #'s are right , then 1/16th of our populace perished in the year 1918. The case fatality rate(CFR) was 2.5%. People never knew the flu could be so deadly. But this was no ordinary seasonal flu - this was Pandemic Flu- this was a mutated bird flu (unbeknow st 2 the dr.'s and scientists at the time as a killer virus, it wasn't until the invention of the electroscope some 20 yrs later that they were "ABLE" 2 see the culprit- H1N1).

There is still speculation as 2 where the virus hailed from. The first case reported was in Haskill County, Kansas USA- MARCH 1918 in camp Tuston, an encampment that was part of the sprawling Fort Riley.This is how it went from the research I did.

*the cook became ill early on March 11, 1918.

*by noon over 100 soliders were sick as well.

*a week later 500 were sick.

*American "doughboys" went overseas and coughed on the French, who coughed on the Belgians,the English, and the Germans.

*It reached Bombay, then Shanghai by end of May.

*Hundreds dying in the UK by June.

*It was dubbed "The 3 Day Flu".

*It was thought as cases dwindled that the worst was over- It wasn't...

It started with a cough, or perhaps a sore throat, maybe a runny nose that needed blowing.It often ended a day or 2 later, sometimes within hours- patients literally drowning in their own blood, their bodies suffocated into a blue hue so pronounced that exhausted nurses placed mourge ID tags on their toes before they had drawn their last breath.

The Pandemic was so horrible that it effectively reduced life expectancy in America by 13 years.This particular virus known as H1N1, had an attack rate of 33-50%, - at it's height half the world was infected.

The year 1918, the King Alphonse III of Spain, had the flu.SPAIN WAS NOT AT WAR. No censors monitoring it's news or papers so reporters kept track of their King's condition, especially because millions of Spaniards were dropping like flies. Just how bad this flu truly was, would NOT be reported by Spain's neighbors, where strict censors deleted anything that could affect the moral of their soldiers who were mired in their fighting. All these reports that came out of Spain - gave the flu it's name, The Spanish Flu- funny the Spaniards called it The French Flu.

This brings us 2 the OTHER theory of how this flu virus originated.

Virologist - John Oxford is convinced that a precursor was somehow spawned in an England Warcamp in Etaples, France 1918. Here it was called purulent bronchitis and it killed quickly with a distinct feature- as they approached death, those infected turned a deep blue, called Helitrope Cyanosis- their bodies desperate 2 breath, literally invade the blood vessels in the face for oxygen.

I Finally know what is wrong with me!!!

I have always kept some kind of journal, diary, ect. I have them all in a footlocker and every now and then I go thru them. I am now 35 yrs old, I have the journals from my teen years on up. I find it facinating and sometimes embarressing 2 read back on life. I learn quite a bit about myself and the way I think- which by the way is not in the least bit "normal". My behavior is very apparent as I look back. This is quite important now, at this time in my life, 4 I recently found out I have Aspergers Syndrom (High Functioning Autism) It is the mildest on the Autistic Spectrum Disorder catagory. NOW I FINALLY KNOW WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME!!!

Brief description of this Aspberger's Syndrome (AS) - is an autism spectrum disorder- one of the 5 neurological conditions typically characterized by difference in language and communication skills, as well as repetative or restrictive patterns of thought and behavior. Referred to as High Functioning Autism.(HFA) The KEY DIFFERENCE between Aspbergers and Autism- normal early development and lack of any language delay.Theory- that people with AS tend to hypersystemize; they tend 2 seek 2 approach all spheres of life, including the social sphere, by developing systems or sets of rules 2 operate to.
U may be wondering at this point, What does this subject have 2 do with an upcoming pandemic? Let me get 2 that...
CLINICAL FEATURES AS characterized by:
*Narrow interests or proccupation with a subject to the exclusion of other activities.
*Repetitive behaviors or rituals
*Peculiarities in speech and language
*Exstensive logical/technical patterns of thought
*Socially and emotionally inappropriate behavior and interpersonal interaction
*Problems with non verbale communication
*Clumsy and uncooridinated motor movements
OK - Number one is the reason I have taken a "Overwhelming" interest in Bird Flu (Avian influenza), soon 2 become a pandemic for humans. I have been "researching" and keeping up on all the news from around the world on it for well over a year now. This internet is friggin' fabulous!
I just Took the AS test...scored a 39 (anything higher than 32 is considered a definite AS case) I figured my score would be high. No suprise there. My Twin brother told me he was diagnosed with AS, so I began "research" on this subject and those subjects that pertain 2 it. It all came 2gether then....I WAS AUTISTC!!! My twin's son has been diagnosed with it 2. It is heredity I believe. (My whole life I've been saying 2 my siblings, "Mom & Dad should never have bred!!!" )

I am a new Blogger. I am here 2 spread the word of a pandemic come anew. Most people in America have 4gotten about the Bird Flu(Avian flu, H5N1 Virus). It did not happen within their imagined time frame, there4 it has no precidence in their lives anymore. Americans have ADD big time."Oh, that was sooo last second ago!"

Yes, I know other viruses or diseases could bring on a pandemic, too, but right as of now, this H5N1 virus is the likely suspect.
